Berlin-based investment FinTech NAO (https://www.investnao.com) has partnered with Chartered Investment and Ludwig Fresenius Pioneer Ventures AG, a key player in the start-up ecosystem connected to the renowned Fresenius universities and the Pioneer Lab incubator. Through this collaboration, members of the “Pioneer Club” investor network, which includes numerous Fresenius alumni, gain exclusive access to invest in the venture capital portfolio of Pioneer Ventures via the NAO app, providing start-ups with streamlined access to essential capital. This marks NAO’s first strategic partnership in the B2B sector.
Robin Binder, CEO and founder of NAO, states, “We are very proud that Ludwig Fresenius Pioneer Ventures AG has chosen the NAO app as the exclusive distribution channel for its investment product. This decision validates that we offer the best user experience for accessing investments that are typically difficult to access.”
PE as an investment opportunity for former students
The Fresenius universities boast a remarkable 175-year tradition in education and entrepreneurship. They have a network of over 15,000 students and nearly 100,000 alumni. In 2022, the universities established the Pioneer Lab, a dynamic ecosystem designed to foster entrepreneurial talent and visionary projects.
Pioneer Ventures actively supports founders and companies through Pioneer Lab’s GROW programme, offering tailored start-up financing during the crucial pre-seed phase. By investing via Pioneer Ventures, members of the Pioneer Club now have the opportunity to engage with start-ups flourishing in the vibrant ecosystem of their alma mater. “Providing venture capital through this new, innovative platform offers a significant boost to pioneering projects emerging from the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences community”, says Dennis Lotter, Board member of Ludwig Fresenius Pioneer Ventures AG. “It also plays a pivotal role in fostering societal innovation by bridging the gap between visionary ideas and the financial backing necessary to make them a reality.”
The joint initiative by Pioneer Ventures, Chartered Investment and NAO aims to provide start-ups with enhanced financial backing by facilitating greater access to capital. Baader Bank serves as the paying agent and custodian of the financial instrument, which mirrors the performance of Pioneer Ventures’ VC portfolio.
Additional B2B collaborations planned with Chartered Investment
In this partnership, Düsseldorf-based Chartered Investment acts as the structurer for the certificate issued by Opus (Private Markets) Chartered Issuances S.A. (ISIN DE000A4AFJ38). “Chartered Investment brings a high level of expertise to the partnership and the project. This cooperation lays the foundation for future B2B solutions, which we will customise jointly with Chartered Investment”, Binder adds. “Certificates provide a custodial solution for access to venture capital investments. We are delighted with the competent collaboration and the performance of NAO”, explains Daniel Maier, General Manager of Chartered Investment
About NAO
NAO is a pioneering co-investment platform, essentially a family office for your pocket. The founding team, comprising Robin Binder, Philipp Nowakowski and Amel Hasanovic, aims to democratise investment opportunities and help individuals build long-term wealth. In the NAO app, investors find carefully selected and exclusive investment opportunities in private equity, infrastructure, hedge funds and equity bonds that were previously only accessible to a small group of financial elites. Berlin-based WealthTech, founded in 2022, collaborates with Baader Bank as custodian bank, along with financial institutions such as UniCredit, UBS and Vontobel. To comply with regulatory requirements, NAO operates under a liability umbrella for its investment brokerage activities and functions as a contractually bound intermediary of DonauCapital Wertpapier GmbH.
