Investing sustainably in the circular economy with BeneFaktorIndex® Recycling

The BeneFaktorIndex® Recycling only includes stocks of companies that are demonstrably pioneers in resource conservation, recycling, and waste avoidance. Via the associated BeneFaktorCertificate® Recycling, donations are automatically made to an environmental organization.

LIXX has developed the BeneFaktorIndex® Recycling as part of the BeneFaktorIndex family jointly with renowned asset management and family office Daubenthaler & Cie. and Leonteq Securities AG. This investment strategy is made available to investors via an index certificate from Leonteq. The index only includes stocks of companies that are demonstrably pioneers in resource conservation, recycling, and waste avoidance - as service providers, with their products, their implementation within the company, and by supporting appropriate organizations. 10% of the annual fees of the BeneFaktorCertificate® Recycling issued on the index are automatically donated to an environmental organization.

At the latest since the Club of Rome published its “The Limits to Growth” report in 1972, it has been common knowledge that earth’s resources are limited. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the EU has therefore been focusing on the reuse of raw materials, on recycling. Only consistent recycling will enable us to prevent environmentally hazardous waste and to secure the supply of important valuable materials.

As an example, the 220 million smartphones manufactured for the German market since 2010 contain 6.58 tons of gold. More than eight million tons of rock have to be removed to extract this amount. Mining in countries with rather poor environmental standards leads to considerable pollution and the destruction of regional ecosystems.

Introducing contemporary recycling processes on an industrial scale would be an option to drastically reduce the need for newly mined gold for smartphone production. This equally applies to the other some 30 mineral raw materials that are required.

In recent years, ever more companies around the globe have decided to take a pioneering role in this important process, ranging from classic waste recyclers with innovative, future-proof processes to specialist businesses that occupy a small niche and enable a circular economy where previously only disposal and new production were the norm.

LIXX Index Innovation, registered EU benchmark administrator and a member of the Chartered Investment Group, has now developed the BeneFaktorIndex® Recycling in cooperation with renowned asset management and family office Daubenthaler & Cie. and investment bank Leonteq as members of the BeneFaktor family. The index only includes shares of companies that are demonstrably pioneers in resource conservation, recycling, and waste avoidance.

The associated BeneFaktorCertificate® Recycling is the investment product based on this index that all investors are able to acquire to actively participate in philanthropy and impact investing. The idea behind this and other BeneFaktorIndices® and BeneFaktorCertificates® is to address socially relevant future issues and to reflect them in financial products.

In addition, there is an automatic donation mechanism. 10% of the annual fees of the BeneFaktorCertificates Recycling are automatically donated to an appropriate non-profit organization to support its activities for the urgently needed circular economy. Investors opting for the BeneFaktorIndex® Recycling and the associated BeneFaktorCertificate® Recycling are thus promoting this important cause twice over.
